“Yogi’s Take the Park was created to bring more attention to the wonderful yoga community in Southern York County, Pa. Our area has many yoga studios and yoga teachers spread throughout.
In addition we have numerous yoga students looking for places to practice and a community to share their practice with. We hope that this festival brings attention to all the different styles, places, desires of our very talented yoga teachers, studios and students. In addition to 2 1/2 hours of yoga (spread out in 30 minute increments) there will also be 4 bands playing music and a closing drum circle.
All of the teachers, performers, bands and volunteers are working together, for free, to create a place of unity for their community. We also will be offering vendors spaces to those who wish to share their creations and merchandise to the attendees. In the end, the great goal of this event is to bring people together to share a practice, share a dance, learn something new, make a friend, connect with old friends, enjoy something ancient and create a wonderful vibrant energy to carry with them throughout the day, throughout the year, throughout the world.
We will host 5 separate yoga teachers from studios throughout Southern York County. Each teacher will bring their own style and personality and experience to their class. Each class will be 30 minutes long and will have a live music accompaniment in most cases. Every class is open to all levels but some will be geared to a more gentle flow while others will be a little more dynamic in movement. Savasana (corpse pose) will be held in the last class at 1:00. We suggest you bring your own mat and props but if you do not have them we will supply a limited amount of mats donated by the Shrewsbury YMCA
Most of our bands and musical performers are Southern York County natives. The music they will be sharing will range from easy jazzy, bluesy vocals to covers of classic and current rock songs with some stream of consciousness musical adventures thrown in. We will end the event with a drum circle at 1:30 to help spread all that good energy and vibration out in to the world! Please bring a drum or use one of the many brought by the local performers.
In addition to various local talented crafters, we will have tye dye clothing, hand made soaps, skin care lines, massage therapists, hula hoops, and much more to offer our attendees. Do not miss the local farmer’s market that is going on within this event! Local produce and hand made gifts all available during the event.”
