I Graduated from the Hashimoto’s Institute Today!
This summer I attended and graduated from the Hashimoto’s Institute which is taught by Dr. Alan Christianson, NMD, Andrea Nakayma, Nutritionist- CNE, CHHC, CNC and Dr. Izabella Wentz, Pharmacist- PharmD, FASCP. The mission of the Hashimoto’s Institute is to transform the treatment of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis worldwide through clinician and patient education efforts.
During this training we learned lab testing and optimal ranges for Hashimoto’s. Patient care approaches. They provided me info on extra testing for nutrients which are typically deficient in those with Hashis, such as ferritin and B12. We learned about the various medications available – prescription, synthetic, over the counter and NDT/natural; as well as timing and dose. We learned how to stop the progression of the autoimmune attack on the thyroid, by uncovering the root cause. Various nutrient protocols, as well as what to do if you need to be on a restrictive diet such as gluten free. Of course you cannot address thyroid issues without looking at those adrenals! So we learned about cortisol and adaptogens. Along with the adrenals you also need to address the gut, so we learned about leaky gut, the microbiome, infections and the notorious constipation. Many infections lead to Hashimoto’s, so we learned about the top 3 that are issues for thyroid clients. We also learned about new experimental therapies to regenerate thyroid tissue! Because our world is so toxic and our thyroids are so fragile, we looked into detoxing. As a holistic health coach, I appreciated the last module which addressed mind, body and emotions/stress. We need to look at the emotional component as well, to achieve optimal health.
Health Coaching is a Partnership! A partnership between the coach and the client, as well as the relationship between the client and themselves. It is also important to honor the coach with the client’s other healers/doctors and the client with those healers. This Holistic, Patient-Care Approach insures better outcomes! In this setting, personal relationships, communication and empathy allow room for growth and improved health to all involved! Do you need a health advocate?
Once I receive their form to fill out and my name is added to their roster of practitioners (Divided up by state) I’ll let you know! As far as 3 months ago, I will be the only one…first one in PA!!! (I’ll add the link to my “Affiliates” and “In The Spot Light” tab.)

*Be recognized as a valuable and trusted leader of your clients’ healthcare team
